Hannibal: National Tom Sawyer Days, July 2nd - July 5th, 2008. Downtown Hannibal From the National Fence Painting Contest to a Frog Jumping Contest to Live Entertainment at Tanyard Gardens, National Tom Sawyer Days is for the young and old at heart. Visitors from all over the world come to experience the history of Hannibal through the eyes of Mark Twain. Kansas City: KC River Fest July 3rd & 4th, 2008. Brerkeley Park On the waterfront at Berkley Park, Kansas City’s premier Independence Day event. It's an opportunity to come together for a fun, family celebration on our nation’s birthday. Located at Kansas City’s Riverfront at Berkley Park, KCRiverFest has become "Kansas City’s Riverfront Tradition;" known as the only place in downtown Kansas City to celebrate the Fourth of July with fireworks and family entertainment. Cape Girardeau: Libertyfest and Air Show Join in on the excitement with fireworks, the Golden Knights Parachute Team and the famous rubber duck race on the Mississippi River at Libertyfest. History buffs will love the rifle and artillery drills and Civil War-era clothing and cooking demonstrations at Fort D. This year the celebration will include activities beginning on Thursday evening, July 3, with the EMBARQ Parade at 6 p.m. and a concert by FabForever, a tribute to the Beatles, on the Capitol Main Stage. Activities will take place throughout the day on Friday, July 4, and will wrap up with a concert by Starship featuring Mickey Thomas.
