Chapungu: Nature, Man and Myth

This remarkable exhibit of contemporary African stone sculpture will showcase more than 40 sculptures drawn from the collection of the Chapungu Sculpture Park of Zimbabwe, Africa. They are the work of three generations of artists, most of whom are Shona. The Shona people are the majority ethnic group in Zimbabwe. They have lived in southern Africa for more than 800 years. Their hand-carved works are made of serpentine, verdite, opal, cobalt and springstone in shades of yellow, brown, red, green and gray. Stone carving workshops, music performances, discovery stations and self-guided evening sculpture tours during complement the exhibit.
